How do I find the model year of a Trek bike?

If you alreadyknow the colour & model of the bike, the Trek website has an archive with bikes listed 2003 & above.
http://www.trekbikes.com/us/en/bikes/200...
And the bikepedia website has an archive of past & present bicycles. http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Defau...
EDIT
To use these sites, you don't need an exact model year in mind, the writing on the frame & the colour of the bike should be enough to work with.
It should be quite easy to match the frame colour to the year, since they seem to be different colours every year..
If you meantion these details, I'll do a search for you
EDIT - Looking at the trek website, it appears that the metalic blue colour would be the Trek 820 (not specifically a woman's style design) .

Netherless, if it's the right size for you, it's a good choice.

On a Niner bike, how do you decipher the serial number? My understanding is that the first couple of numbers reveal the year the frame was produced. Mine starts with P934. What year is a Trek 8000 aluminum mountain bike with Serial number 93399. Not that important except for selling the bike, but if you really need to know then Google 'Trek serial number' or 'Trek 8000'. Not possible to ID with just serial number.

How do I know what year and model of Trek bike I have if I have the serial number?

Trek

If it’s an older Trek use the link Jim Edgar posted below. Early Trek bicycles were extremely well documented unless they were a custom build. If it doesn’t fit the format it may have been a custom build. The builder used what ever number scheme he wanted on a custom build or many times no numbers at all.

How can I determine the model year of my Trek bike?

I just purchased a BEAUTIFUL used Trek 7.3 FX at an estate sale. It's in nearly perfect condition and is obviously a very recent model. I'm presuming that the bike was originally bought and sold in the U.S., so I 'm going by American-market Treks. I realize that selections and model specs may be different in other countries.
I located the serial number and was hoping to find a look-up on the Trek site or some other independent site, but no such luck. The sale holders weren't able to tell me what year the bike is, either, as they were contracted to handle the sale and were not the estate owners.
The bike is Viper Red in color which, from what I can tell from Trek's website/archives and catalogs, was only available for the 2013 model year. However, the rear derailleur is a Deore, which is consistent with the 2012 model; the 2013 model supposedly has Alivio (info from Bike Pedia and Trek). But the bike didn't come in red for 2012! Thus, it seems that I have a bike with 2012 components, but a color for 2013. A trip to my LBS didn't help; they got the same info I did regarding color, components, etc. for various model years and agreed that I have color for 2013 with some 2012 components... they're just as stunped as I am.
Could this be a 'transitional' model, phasing out the 2012 production year, or perhaps the phase-in of 2013 (call it 'model year 2012-1/2'). Outside of contacting Trek directly and providing them with the serial number on my ride, how can I get the actual manufacture date or model year for my bike?

What year model is a trek bike with WTU117C6223H as SN?

Sorry…no idea based on serial number. I can, however, point you to a couple of options. The first thing to know is that Trek, like some other companies, changes the paint scheme on each of their models each year, and there is the Trek Bike Archive. (This won’t help, of course, if your bike has ever been repainted.)If you know its a Trek, you may also know the model name of the bike. The archive has a list going back to 2002. Simply look in each year for the model of your bike, click on the link, and look for the picture with a paint job that matches the bike you are asking about. 2017 Bike Archive - Trek BicycleThere is also this website that has lists going back to 1993… BikePedia - Bicycle Value Guide Enter the bike brand first to narrow your search and then look through the years. Note that not all the entries have photos so this may be a challenge. There is also this long list… Trek Bike Models by Year and Color . Although it works off descriptions rather than photos, it does go back to the late 70s/early 80s, so it covers a lot of ground. It’s how I figured out that mine is a 1996. This same site also has a whole section on decoding the serial numbers, although I didn’t see anything that matched yours in a quick glance Vintage Trek Bicycle Frame Serial Numbers, bike

What model year is my Trek 7300 Crossbike?

I bought it from a garage sale with no owners manual. Does anyone know where on the bike I can find definitive markings that would reveal the model year of this bike?

How do I know the style a model year BMK bike I have?

Trek Serial Number Wtu

I assume you are asking about BMX bikes, not BMK bikes. The only way to work out the model and year of a BMX bicycle is to first know the brand. To determine the year it MIGHT be possible to look at the frame number. The first 2 numbers often (but not always) reveal the last 2 digits of the year. You should be able to locate the frame number on the bottom bracket… on the frame under the pedals. As far as brand, this is also tough to determine but the factory that builds the frame often is identified by the first 1 to 3 letters in the frame number. For example, most Schwinn and GT frame numbers start with SN, most Diamondback and Raleigh numbers begin with ACS but not always. The model is usually not discernable from the frame number so you will have to look at catalogs to find your exact model. This can be dreary work.
