The New International Version (NIV) was created by a group of scholars translating the Bible from the original texts in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek.
The project was formally started in a meeting in 1965. A big group of scholars met in Illinois and began to translate the Holy book from available manuscripts in the original languages. The purpose was to create a Bible in contemporary English.
The New International Version Bible was first published in 1973 and it had revisions in 1978 and 1983.
The purpose of New International Version is bring modern Bible readers as close as possible to the original meaning of the Sacred Scriptures.
The work of the NIV will never be complete because English usage is always changing. The CBT (Committee of Bible Translation) is charged to meet every year to review and maintain the NIV. A 2011 update is the latest revision.

Welcome to new version of One Bible (formerly NIV Bible*). We are blessed and very thankful to be using this app with you all.
Our development team has been working hard to make sure your Bible app experience is the best it can be. So we listened to every user that contacted us to provide solutions to weak points in the app. Along the way we were also able to improve the systems that serve Bible translations worldwide.
This release includes the following:
* The ads will now display less often when you return to One Bible from using other apps or your device locks.
* Sharing verses works now. There was a problem with the text not copy/pasting.
* We have re-named the option in the Bible translations menu to specifically reflect what it does. 'Add Offline Bible' is more helpful than the previous 'Add Bible.'
* The auto-scroll reading feature had the speeds mixed up. It has been corrected so that faster moves the text faster and slower likewise.
* All of the search filters have been fixed.
* The 'Robert Robert's' reading plan has been restored.
* The NRV & NRSV translations are accessible again.
* The app icon graphic has changed to the new One Bible brand.
* The title beneath the icon has been changed from the former NIV Bible* to One Bible.

Blessing from God!

I love this app!!!!! I like how there are different colors of highlighters and underlines. I like the little extra things in this app such as the daily bible verses and lists of each chapter in a specific book. This app is very helpful. If you want to write a note you can do that in this app too. It’s all in one place very organized and neat. Only thing I don’t love is the new update. I don’t like that whenever I get on the app after already being on it it has to reload which is irritating, however it doesn’t take very long to do so. I hope you get this app!! I recommend it 110%!!

I love it!!

I have completely switched over to using this Bible application on my iPad Pro! I love it very much for daily readings. I wish there were better tools for studying, I wish that you could set up daily reading programs, or I wish that the back button would take you back to your previous page that you were on rather than just back one chapter. But those are minor irritations the greater delight is ease of looking up other verses and jumping quickly around through the Scriptures! I use it daily!

Fine app

This app works well. I especially like the buttons used to select the chapter and verse as opposed to the more common scroll device. It's faster and easier to tap only twice for the 20th chapter and the 30th verse rather than scrolling from one in each case.
One small annoyance: when the app asked me to write a review I was actually in a Bible class at church so I selected 'remind me later.' Then the reminder came up EVERY time I wanted to look up another passage. That's a little needy and overly persistent if you ask me.
Additionally, I frequently want search for a specific word or phrase and that is either difficult or I haven't figured it out yet. RLDVM
